Power of Scent

I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity of engraving on YSL fragrance bottles recently at Nordstrom in The Domain. It’s interesting to see people’s reactions to having the option of engraving a fragrance they were buying for themselves.

What do you do when presented with this situation? Do you pass on a complimentary engraving because asking for your name on it seems a bit over the top? It’s one thing if you get a fragrance personalized for someone else, but if you get it for yourself, are you thinking, “I really want people to know this is my bottle as I spray some on myself, in my own bathroom, with no one else to see my fragrance bottle, but myself.”

I feel like that would be a great short video or comic. The end of the video would be the person, in their bathroom, superhero stance, cape on, blowing in the wind, their own name on their fragrance bottle next to them, as the camera pans away.

This reminds me that one lady asked one woman asked for “sparkle on” which is something her mother used to tell her when she was a child. I thought that was endearing. Every time she wears that fragrance, she’ll think of her mom, what a blessing.
